A decent arrival dominated by thrushes also included a variety of other species. The pick of the bunch was the autumn's second
Red-breasted Flycatcher seen from the observatory windows as it flitted around the patio in the afternoon. The first
Yellow-browed Warbler for more than a week and a
Crossbill were the other highlights, while the
American Golden Plover and the (first)
Arctic Redpoll were lingering rarities. Much increased numbers of
Fieldfares and
Redwings were seen in the morning before many of them departed later in the day; 3
Ring Ouzels were also seen and other species arriving in numbers included 20
Lapland Buntings, 80
Snow Buntings and 67
Bramblings.
